Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski talked recently about the future of Gears with IGN and explained that he wants the next game to be less “linear” than the previous ones.
“The thing about Gears is, as a creative, the second you ship a product or finish something, alll you see is the shit things you did wrong”
“Gears 3 is a huge success for us, rated in the 90s, sold millions of copies, but I look at it now, I can surgically pick a part, the various things , if I can go back in a time machine would have done differently.”
One of the major things he would like to do differently in the next Gears is to make it less linear than the previous games in the series, “Linearity man.” Then he added ”I learned that the more replayable a game is, even if you never fire it up and replayed it, the better the game is overall”
Bleszinski also said if they were to make any future Gears games, he would want to change the dialogue and the voice acting to resemble Christopher Nolan’s style.
“If we get around to ever doing more Gears games, I hope we can continue to drift back more towards a Christopher Nolan type dialogue as opposed to a Tim Burton or Joel Schumacher Batman. But that’s way down the line.”
